On Building A Closet of Classics

Jacket - thanks to Rebecca Taylor (similar style here, also similar here for $52)
Blouse - Celine (at Nordstrom Rack, similar here with gorgeous scallop detail)
Jeans - thanks to 7 For All Mankind (my favorite dark denim! here)
Sunglasses - Prada (here)
Purse - Celine
Heels - Stella McCartney 

Want to hear one of my not-so-secret shopping secrets?  I'm a huge fan of outlet stores like Nordstrom Rack, Neiman Marcus Last Call and Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th - it's where I hunt for timeless classics, like this perfect (and perfectly simple) white blouse by Celine, which was found at more than 80% off.  Other great items to look for while you're there? Classic work trousers, blazers and pencil skirts. My biggest piece of advice for women finishing school and entering the workforce: slowly build your wardrobe of classic items here - where your dollar stretches much, much farther. :)

    1. I do exactly the same! That's what I did when I started working. I slowly build my wardrobe by shopping in outlet mall such as premium outlet malls. They have great prices and you can find timeless pieces from great brands such as Burberry, Prada and such!

And I decided to head to simple classics more. I'm already a simple and classics person but I want to build my wardrobe with that theme more and more.   62. The title of this post totally caught my eye :). I would love the perfect white blouse like that. problem is that the Nordstrom Racks on the East Coast don't seem to have nearly as good picks as the West Coast ones! This is a lovely outfit all in all :)

    Take care of your clothes!
    Without proper care, those investment items may only last a season or two - being careful can add years to their life.

  75. excellent advice, I will also suggest theoutnet.com and other similar sites that sell designer pieces for a fraction of their original price. Now that I'm back home in a semi permanent status, I decided to invest for quality over quantity for work and social events.

  79. Love the simplicity and sophistication in your outfit, and great advice - I'm graduating from college next year and slowly realizing that 1. I can't live in tees and jeans forever and 2. can't always wear white shirts and black suits to work either hehe. Outlet shopping is on my bucket list before I leave America!
