Would you?

Blouse - Theory (here)
Dress - thanks to Banana Republic (unfortunately sold out but similar one in textured fabric here, similar splurge-worthy leather version here)
Jacket - H&M
Ring - BCBG
Rose gold cap-toe flats - Messeca thanks to Collective Habit (here)
Purse - Chanel

In trying to prove that leather dresses can possibly be worn for work, I made sure that this one was tailored (but not tight!), buttery soft (and not patent!), and paired with items that would help tone it down (a collared blouse says business while flats make it more approachable).

I recently found myself at a much more casual work environment, so although I feel thoroughly comfortable wearing this to work... I want to know: would you?

PS: I've been slowly but surely(!) listing some favorite items from my closet on Poshmark in lieu of another blog sale, and I'm convinced it's the way to go from now on!  Please join me as I "host" one of their in-app Posh Parties tonight at 7pm (more details here)! Download the free iPhone app here and hope to "see" you in the app!  (I'll be listing more items during the party!)

  19. I've worn a leather skirt (similar finish to yours) with a chambray shirt and nude heels to work. The chambray definitely toned it down, and worn with pearls the skirt was more "I have interesting style and am an interesting person" than "I have no idea how to dress appropriately for work!"

  22. I think it all depends on the environment your working in. A leather dress is probably not the best idea for a very formal office, but in a more casual or creative industry it is an amazing piece. This particular one is beautiful and the styling is definitely work appropriate. Thanks for the inspiration!

  51. As I was scrolling through the photos I thought that maybe the question was:
    "Would you...want this jacket? Yes."
    "Would you...want this dress? Yes."
    "Would you...want these shoes? Yes."
    Great look -

The more casual environment will take getting used to - but should be a great way to change up your looks and play with the outfits that worked for you in the last workplace...I'd love to see some of your old outfits "remixed" for the new dress-code!

Funnily enough I just wore my leather pencil skirt to work yesterday and did an OOTD: http://t.co/W3k0JWl7. I work at a marketing agency that is a little more laid back, so I maybe wouldn't wear it to say... a law firm.
