Something New: Cozy Knit & Fur Trimming

An oversized, cozy knit - something I'm probably going to live in this season! from Zara.
Feeling under the weather this week (maybe a fun San Diego weekend with lots of kiddies had something to do with it?), only made worse with a rough, deadline-filled workweek!  Something new can always perk a girl up during times like these, don't you agree?

Thanks for sharing your Fall wishlist items - we all seem to be lusting after winter boots & booties and all things camel/nude & olive!  The hard part is always finding the perfect pair at an even better price point! =)

Three Fall Items

Striped boxy shirt - Zara
Shorts - Forever21
Belt - J.Crew
Heels - Miu Miu
Purse - Chanel

Just as I was convinced it was about that time of the year to pack away the shorts and take a mental inventory of my fall gear... The summer seems to have returned with a vengeance!

That won't deter me from daydreaming, though, and stubbornly at the top of my must-find list are:
  1. Chocolate brown ankle boots (whether it be lace-up,  zip-up, wrap-around or shearling)
  2. Something to wear with my olive tights, inspired by this image
  3. A luxurious cape as a throw-over-anything topper
What's at the top of your fall wishlist?  Hope you're all having a great week!!!

Wearing Now: Casual Thursday

Boyfriend blazer - DKNY
Taupe fuzzy sweater - H&M
Jeans - Forever21
Heels - Chloe
*As pictured in image #3, sometimes the hubby needs a little art direction in his work.  Sweet guy that he is, he almost always obliges. =)  =)

I've been to Nashville and back since my last post.  That's right, a 36 hour trip of which 14 involved some sort of transportation (plane, taxi, various rides from colleagues) or waiting for said transportation... After a meeting with 7 new sales reps for their introductory product and sales process training, I was headed right back to the airport.  But not without dining at their popular Margot's Cafe and Bar for a dinner with my colleague and Director of Training.  French food never tasted so southern!  No complaints here, food and wine were delicious! =)

Happy Thursday!

Weekend Wear: Sleeveless Chambray

Sleeveless chambray top - Levi's
Skirt - Missoni
Necklaces - Madewell & Forever21
Heels - Miu Miu
Purse - Gucci

This sleeveless version of the chambray top will work great with layered knits as we head into Fall (no sleeves, less bunching!).  A suitable justification for adding a third chambray top to my closet during the Levi's CurveID event, right?  Absolutely!  Plus, it made for a quick and easy Napa outfit over the weekend.  =)

Napa: Darioush

Celebrated a short workweek by taking a day trip to Napa on Friday with my hubby and visiting sister-in-law.  I've mentioned Darioush before, but this time I made sure to take a few snapshots.  Darioush will always be my absolute favorite winery, such elegant grandeur and such delicious wine!

Other highlights from the weekend?  Cobb's Comedy Club for the Broken Lizards (of Beerfest and SuperTroopers fame), Frjtz truffle fries with white artichoke truffle ketchup, Paul K Mediterranean cuisine (although I was mildly disappointed with my duck dish), and a savory bowl of pho (Vietnamese beef noodle soup) from Out The Door on Bush Street:

How was your weekend?

Weekend Wear: To the SF Vintage Expo

Leopard poncho/sweater - H&M
Jeans - Duke and Duchess
Necklace - Forever21
Shoes - Miu Miu

I woke up bright and early this morning to take a look around the SF Vintage Expo.  There were endless vintage shop-booths up and down the aisles of the concourse exhibition center.  A plethora of furs, costume jewelry and of course, racks and racks of clothes!

It's always fun to finger through items from the past: some so intricate they belonged in a museum and some that probably had seen better days.  But all come with a previous life and beg for another chance (unfortunately the musty smell usually gives it away...).  I came home with a $15 i.Magnin blouse and a profound appreciation for a select few vintage shop owners who had spent a lot of effort perfectly curating their collection... Their booths were far and away the most interesting to see.

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend!

*SF Bay Area ladies, the expo continues tomorrow as well, entry fee is $10.

The Levi's CurveID Event

Final image by Chris Andre Photography, all other images by me
On Tuesday night I went to the Levi's CurveID event with Amber from Amber's Notebook (yay Amber, I finally got to meet one of my blogger crushes!)!  Hope K. from Edelman PR reached out to let me know about the local event (thanks Hope!!) and I was more than thrilled to join in on the fun.  I had already spotted the magazine ads for their new CurveID jeans and had made a mental note to try them on as soon as possible.  Lucky for me, I didn't have to wait long!

The huge Union Square Levi's flagship store was closed for the private party and their wonderful staffers were on hand to help measure, fit and troubleshoot all of our questions.  Levi's Senior VP of Women's Merchandising & Design, You Nguyen, gave us a thorough description of the research and technology behind the CurveID line.  He had 3 models before us - all size 27 in jeans - but with such spectacular differences in shape!  It was fantastic to see the 3 shapes in action (Slight Curve, Demi Curve and Bold Curve) and to see how each shape fit the models.  I was instantly a believer in the concept of CurveID.  Smart, Levi's, very smart!

After being measured and grabbing a handful of jeans to try on for size and shape, I came home with a complimentary pair of my very own pair of Levi's CurveID Demi Curve jeans.  Thank you Levi's!  I'll be sure to have an outfit post and review for the jeans soon enough...but let's just say the hubby already approved with raised eyebrows and a whistle!  =)

*For the Bay Area ladies - you can also get your free pair of CurveID jeans at their "Wear What Fits" event in Union Square on Friday, September 17 at 10am!  Donate an item that doesn’t fit and you’ll get something that does – a free new pair of custom fit Levi’s Curve ID jeans! First 1,000 attendees.  Get there early!

The Goods

Nikon D90 DSLR, here or here.
Camera goods, that is!  I've gotten a lot of requests for camera information lately.  Coincidentally around the time we started using this new camera!  For the last several months we had been playing around with my dad's Canon EOS 1D (a mega-camera that had far too much gadgetry for us).  Thanks Dad!!  After much research, we finally decided to get our own DSLR - this Nikon D90.   It has been so much fun to play around with!  Definitely worth the splurge, although not much of a splurge compared to all the other options for professional grade DSLR cameras out there.

In the camera bag:
  • Nikon D90
  • Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens
  • Nikon Nikkor 18-200mm lens
  • 4 GB Memory card
*Tip:  Amazon and B&H Photo have been great online retailers for camera gear in our experience, but stay away from ButterflyPhoto!

Rocky Mountain Showdown & an Important Birthday

Spent the weekend in Denver with friends to watch the Rocky Mountain Showdown: CU Buffs v CSU Rams.  It's a gross understatement when I say that my hubby is huge fan of his Colorado Buffaloes.  (And it's hardly a coincidence that our littlest puppy is black and tan/gold and named Buff.)

Having graduated from UC San Diego where there is no college football, no tailgating and no school anthems, I've happily adopted CU's school spirit and now fully enjoy the experiences that escaped me.  We'll be making our way out there at least one more time this fall!

A few other Denver highlights include a delicious dinner at Zengo, after-dinner drinks at Beatrice & Woodsley (a MUST see, it's gorgeous inside!), bbq'd cowboy burgers and an outdoor dinner on the patio, Cherry Creek breakfast and shopping.  And I should probably add that most importantly, the Buffs won.  =)

***& Happy Birthday to my lovely sister Judy - hope you have a wonderful day and can't wait to see you soon!***
