Weekend Wear: Striped Dress...again

Striped Dress - Jean Paul Gaultier for Target
Cardigan - Club Monaco, gift from Kristine <3
Belt - Urban Outfitters
Purse - Chanel
Oxford Wedges - Rag & Bone

Happy Memorial Day weekend!  One of my very best friends (since Jr. High!), Kristine, spent the afternoon with me in San Francisco!  Had a really nice day and enjoyed wine in the park.  It was a huge contrast to Saturday, which was spent packing and moving "life" into a new rented storage space.  "Life" being all of the memories, photos, and keepsakes that had been occupying space at my parent's house.  On the plus side, I found some old clothes to throw into my wardrobe rotation.  Shopping the spare closet is probably the most satisfying, isn't it?

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!!!

Coffee Break Craving: Beach Sandals

I came across these sandals in my search for perfect - but cheap - beach sandals for when my Reefs are too saltwater-soggy and not quite stylish enough.  I love that they're "strappy" like the many gladiator styles out right now without being too overtly gladiator!  Have you heard of this brand before?  Let me know your thoughts!

And why hello there, Overstock.com shoe section, while we're looking around...look what else I found! These Pour La Victoire sandals are only $129.99 (shopbop.com and endless.com have the same pair for $203 and $171!)

To the wonderful readers and friends that have reached out with Boston recommendations and tips - THANK YOU SO MUCH.  I cannot wait to visit your city!!!

Happy Friday everyone!  Hope you enjoy a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Wearing Now: All Linen

Linen shirt - Lafayette 148
Linen pencil skirt - Zara
Necklace - Banana Republic
Belt - Urban Outfitters
Shoes - Emporio Armani

I love linen.  That is, until I've been wearing it for about 3 minutes and 42 seconds.  Long enough to sit down, say my ABCs and stand up again.  =)

I found this shirt on clearance at an Off Saks Fifth Avenue.  Stores like that (also: Neiman Marcus Last Call, Nordstrom Rack, Loehmanns) have been essential for building my collection of work blouses.  And with years and decades of work ahead of me, I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing work blouses more than anything else in my life.  It's worth it, then, right?  I think so.

Also - J.Crew was most certainly paying attention to my wishes yesterday (thank you J.Crew!), because the cropped trousers went on sale!

Unfortunately for me, only in black.  But maybe fortunately for you?  =)

Have a great day!

Wearing Now: Chambray Shirt & Cardigan

Chambray shirt - H&M
Cardigan - J.Crew
Necklaces - Forever21
Trousers - J.Crew
Heels - Yves Saint Laurent
Belt - Gucci
Purse - Chanel

Can you tell that I'm obsessed with my J.Crew cropped trousers?  The boyish shape makes it super comfortable and the cropped, cuffed hem adds just a bit of 'girly.' (Exposed ankles tend to bring out the feminine, don't you think?)  And I'm especially happy that they don't stretch out in the seat area like most trousers.  I'm seriously lusting after a few of the other colors... or how about all of them?  =)

Happy Wednesday, friends!

Looking Forward is So Much Fun

...especially when I have so much to look forward to!!!  In the next 6 weeks, I'm spending:
  • 3 days in San Diego (to visit my sister, niece and nephew!)
  • 5 days in Boston (my first time! any Boston folks?  Would love to hear your suggestions and recommendations!)
  • 4 days in Hawaii (girl's trip!)
I. Can't. Wait.  And speaking of looking forward...
Pre-Fall shoes have been making their way onto the e-stores!

What are YOU looking forward to?

Weekend Wear: Sparrow Print Top

Blouse - H&M
Shorts - Forever21
Heels & Hat - Zara
Purse - Chanel

Happy Monday!

I wore this blouse yesterday as soon as I bought it - and bravely rocked the shorts for a full hour and a half while the sun was warm and the wind was calm.  I was instantly relieved that I changed into jeans as we made our way into the windy Richmond for a late lunch/early dinner.  We ate at Hard Knox Cafe, known for their southern fried chicken, and YES - it was good!!!  Hearty fried chicken, cabbage, fries, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese.  Plus the corn muffins to start.  It was definitely a meal, and then some!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Weekend Wear: Lots of Black

Black Military Jacket - H&M
Black Oversized Cardigan - Rachel Rachel Roy
Black Camisole - Gap
Black Skinny Jeans - Forever21
Scarf - H&M
Shoes - Proenza Schouler
Purse - Chanel

I had a lot of layers going on here - but it was very much needed. We had gorgeous sun in SF but just as much wind, too.

The weekend has been great so far - dinner with Michele at Farallon (plus a fantastic wine & cheese pre-dinner event in her lovely new place), homemade Saturday brunch by my hubby, coffee in Union Square with the puppies, a late lunch at Taylor's Automatic and a nice stroll in the Ferry Building, and movie night.  And a full Sunday awaits as well!

Have a lovely Sunday!

Weekend Wear: Odd-length Shorts

Shorts - Siwy
Plaid shirt - Zara
Heels - Forever 21
Necklaces - Forever21
Purse - Chanel

I've always loved the oh-so-awkward length of these shorts - definitely not daisy dukes, but not quite long.  It has always worked, though, when paired with a loose top with some extra length.  (I think I saw a similar odd-length version at Forever21 in case you're interested!)

What are your plans this weekend?  I have absolutely no plans - and after last weekend's fun festivities, it's probably for the best!  Actually, we did pick up a few DVDs earlier this week (It's Complicated, Invictus and Avatar).  That's most likely going to be the plan.

Thank goodness it's Friday!  I hope you all have a great one!

How to: The Twisted Belt Thing

I've received a lot of reader requests for a "twisted-belt-thing" tutorial and I am finally getting to it!  Sorry for the delay - and hope it helps!  *Note - it works best with an extra long skinny belt!

{1} Start your belt like you normally do.

{2} Use the belt loop

{3} Tuck the end of the belt under the strap.

{4} Slip it under and pull it up toward you, leaving some slack.

{5} Holding the end of the belt, prepare to send it through the loop you've just created with the slack.

{6} Send it through the loop.

{7} Adjust the slack as needed to make the loop even.

 {8} That's it folks!

Afternoon Craving: Summer Slip

Urban Outfitters

It so vaguely reminds me of this dress from Opening Ceremony, if only for the cutouts.

Wearing Now: Vested Blouse

Silk Ruffle Blouse - Marc by Marc Jacobs
Vest - H&M
Trousers - Talula
Pumps - Fendi

Happy Wednesday!

Last night the hubby and I went to hp Pavilion for the Blackhawks vs. Sharks Western Conference Playoff game!!  Hockey games are nothing short of electric when it comes to the playoffs.  I'm not a huge Sharks fan, but I did rock my Sharks scarf and a bunch of teal so that it minimized the amount of heckling we experienced.  Hubby is a HUGE Blackhawks fan - 6'5" with a Blackhawks jersey among a sea of teal so he's hard to miss.  A police officer informed us that opposing team fans have been assaulted before and I'm not surprised - we've had a Sharks fan yell wild and obnoxious profanities in our faces while following our every step after a game.  Not cool, Silicon Valley, not cool!  A born and raised Silicon Valley girl myself, I think we can do better than that!

As for the outfit?  It's just another work uniform.`=)  Hope you have a wonderful day!

p.s. The Blackhawks won, hubby's happy!

Wearing Now: Work Uniform

Gold Silk Blouse - Joie
Floral Cardigan - Missoni
Pencil Skirt - Dolce & Gabbana
Necklaces - Banana Republic & Forever 21
Pumps - Fendi

Pencil Skirt + tucked in Silk Blouse + Cardigan + Pumps = my Standard Work Uniform.  It never fails.

And my Fendi heels (making their debut on this blog) are really, really old.  Dare I say, 7 years?  They've recently been revived for the second time (I love my trusty SF shoe repair/cobbler!!!), and I'm convinced that they will last forever.  This is why splurging on a classic item is rarely regrettable.

I particularly love the simple oversized white blouse - great for lounging and for 9to5 work wear.  Any takers?

Hope you all had a great weekend!  With friends in town from Colorado and Bay2Breakers, my weekend was nonstop!  We feasted and celebrated and then joined tens of thousands of people for a 7 mile walk of madness through the city.  =)

Happy Monday!

Wearing Now: Casual Friday - but Denim on Top!

Chambray Shirt - H&M ($9.95!!!)
Skirt - Missoni
Belt - Miu Miu
Oxford Wedges - Rag & Bone

Dressing for casual Friday, but mixing it up with denim on top!  I had originally wanted the J.Crew Chambray shirt (posted here), but couldn't convince myself to buy it full price, $98.  This $10 version will work for now.

Happy Friday, friends!  Leaving you with a few pictures of my favorites....

Retired

Necklaces - Banana Republic
Decorative Glass Platter - Handmade by my talented sister-in-law, Tama

My hubby has politely requested that I retire my Banana Republic chandelier necklaces (at least for the short-term).  I can't help that it's my *perfect* necklace and it has been beyond versatile.  So long, necklaces...

'til next week!!!!  =)

This lovely glass platter was made by my sister-in-law Tama.  Among the beautiful oil paintings, furniture and decorative items in our house - this platter is one of my absolute favorite pieces!

Weekend Wear: Rag & Bone Wedges and Shorts

Silk Ruffle Blouse - BCBG
Cuffed Shorts - Zara
Belt - Gucci
Necklace - Banana Republic
Lace up Oxfords - Rag & Bone
Clutch - Chanel

A departure from my standard heeled pump!  I'm so excited to add something different to my closet.  My only worry?  Scuffing a nude colored wedge...is not pretty.  Let's hope it doesn't happen anytime soon!

This week was supposed to be a nice recovery from last week's event-filled trip to Philly.  In fact, the hubby and I enjoyed a relaxing night at the movies on Monday night for Ironman 2 (pretty entertaining but not as good as the first).  But Tuesday....

Oh, Tuesday.

After working a long full day I was notified of a last-minute surgery that required my attendance.  Luckily, it was local.  Unluckily, it started at 5pm and wasn't over until 9pm (well, I was excused at 9pm...).  And this morning?  I'm leaving for Palo Alto bright and early at 6am for a meeting.  And to top if off?  I didn't get my Starbucks all day

I'm telling you - when I don't get my Starbucks, the whole day is just wrong!!!  Done whining and off to get my Starbucks.  =)  Have a wonderful Wednesday!
