Zac Posen for Target

My pics from the Zac Posen by Target line?  The Tuxedo skirt in black ($39.99) and in flowery brocade ($49.99), both in size 3.  They fit amazingly well on the high waist, are fitted through the hips, made with thick "expensive" feeling zippers and structured fabric, and (always a good surprise for Target) they're fully lined.  Just a few more detail shots:

The other pieces in the line didn't resonate with me - luckily though, because walking away from Target $90 poorer and only two Target skirts to show for it was enough to send me running to the car.  Almost as quickly as I had run in.

=)

Humor aside, I'm really satisfied with these two pieces.  They're definitely worth the higher price tag (in the Target world of price tags).

Did you pick up any items from the line?

Weekend Wear: One Dress, Two Ways (so far)

Dress - courtesy of Melrose Street
Scarf - Urban Outfitters
Heels - Zara

Same dress - courtesy of Melrose Street
Scarf - Urban Outfitters
Leather Jacket - Theory

This is one dress I know I'll be wearing a million different ways.  I had fun tying the scarf around it for pictures but in the end preferred it loose - especially for a steak dinner with the hubby where I'm bound to stuff myself with buttery, medium rare goodness.  We went to Joe DiMaggio's this time (awesome floor-to-ceiling autographed portrait of Marilyn Monroe!!) but I'll always be a Ruth's Chris girl at heart!

Reminder: if you haven't already, enter the Melrose Street $30 giveaway here!  Thanks again for visiting and for all of your lovely comments =)

Melrose Street Giveaway! & Wearing Now: Military Sweater

Military Sweater - courtesy of Melrose Street
Scarf - Urban Outfitters
Cropped Trousers - J.Crew
Purse - Gucci
Shoes - Brian Atwood
This uber-comfy zip-up sweater is from a new clothing site - Melrose Street (Thanks Melrose Street!).  It carries fun, affordable fashion and a couple of things stand out:

  • The sweater is great quality with a heavy duty zipper (and the elbow patches, gotta love em!)

  • FREE shipping to the US, on everything

  • Sizing details (they tell you what size the model is wearing and the model's measurements)

  • The entire ordering, shipping and packaging process resembles more of a big-name e-commerce site, like shopbop.com.  And I know my e-commerce sites.  You've seen the proof on this blog =)
And it gets better.

Melrose Street would like to offer a $30 giveway to one of my awesome readers!!!  So here goes:

  1. Create an account with Melrose Street (don't worry - no strings attached.  They don't disclose your information to anyone.  They might send an email in the future, but unsubscribing is always possible.  And the account in your name is needed so that they can quickly assign the winner the $30 gift certificate right to the account!)

  2. Leave a comment on this posting to let me know what you would buy if you were to win and your email address so I can contact you

  3. You don't have to be a follower of 9to5Chic to enter!  But do follow if you want =)

  4. Winner will be chosen at random this Thursday 9pm PST - enter before then!
Good luck & Happy Monday!

Weekend Wear: Stripes & a Bustier

Tuxedo Blazer - 3.1 Phillip Lim
Pink Bustier - H&M (recent find!)
Striped Skirt - Forever21 (recent find!)
Booties - Giuseppe Zanotti
Purse - newly fixed Chanel

The birthday celebration for Michele continues!!  Great friends joined us at our house for a few warm-up rounds and then we enjoyed a fun night on the town.  The kind that ends with CPK frozen pizzas in the oven and where housing a friend on the air mattress is the only decent thing to do.  ;)

Happy weekend and I hope you're all having as amazing weather as San Francisco!

Hello there and Happy Wednesday!!  I've gotten several requests for my makeup lineup - but keep in mind I am not a makeup and beauty guru (there are lots of amazing beauty bloggers out there that I could refer you to, though!).  Here's what I'm using now, in the order which I use them:

  6. Eyebrows: MAC Shadow in Swiss Chocolate with MAC liner brush (hmm can't see the style number anymore!)

  8. Eyelashes: Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler and Maybelline Waterproof Mascara
  9. Eyeliner: MAC Liquid Liner in Boot Black
  10. Lip Balm: Kiehl's Lip Balm #1
  11. Lipstick: Revlon in Wild Orchid

Weekend Wear: Simple White

Blouse - Theory
Camisole underneath - Target
White skinny jeans - Forever21 (surprised?)
Shoes - Zara

A really simple outfit for the weekend.  Sometimes I surprise myself by reaching for one of my collared shirts even when I'm not headed to work.  Habit, I guess?

These are last years' white skinny jeans from Forever21 - I knew they were going to get a lot of wear (and be a magnet for stains) so I stocked up and got a couple pairs.  If I remember correctly they were about $11.50 each?  Not regretting it one bit. =)

Wearing Now: Linen Vest & Stripes

Linen Vest - H&M (olddd)
Striped Shirt - Urban Outfitters
Skirt - BCBG
Necklace - Banana Republic
Shoes - Zara
Purse - Chanel

Good morning & happy Monday!

I spent an evening at my parents' house last week and went "shopping" in my old closet there - scored this vest (originally picked up at one of the NY H&Ms about 4 years ago), my summer shorts (I've been tempted to just buy a few new pairs, thankfully I didn't), and a few other items that'll make it's way into my wardrobe rotation.  A cheap and guiltless way to shop!

By the way - the shoes are so comfortable!!!  Hurry in to Zara if you were interested in picking it up! =)

Hope you have a great day!

A few of my Wearing Now outfits that never made it to a post for some reason or another...

[Wearing Now: Leopard Again]
Tee - Forever21
Skirt and Scarf - H&M
Belt - Urban Outfitters
Shoes - Giuseppe Zanotti
Purse - Chanel

[Wearing Now: Casual Office Day]
Jacket - H&M
Shirt - from my Mom's closet
Jeans - Forever21
Necklace - Banana Republic
Flats - Elie Tahari
Purse - Louis Vuitton

[Wearing Now: Springtime Scarf]
Tee - Forever21
Skirt - Etro
Scarf - Urban Outfitters
Shoes - Sergio Rossi
Sunglasses - Gucci

[Wearing Now: Short Jean Trench]
Jean Trench-style coat - Theory
Cardigan - DKNY
Long Dress - from a Boutique in Toronto
Necklace - Banana Republic
Purse - Chanel
Shoes - J.Crew flipflop (I think)

Phew.  Glad that's done now! =)

It's been a busy 7 days for me, and that explains my lack of posts this week:
  • Comedy show at Punchline SF
  • Dinner with my dad for his birthday
  • Sharks 1st Playoff game at San Jose hp Pavillion with my hubby and dad
  • A 4am, 3-hour drive to San Luis Obispo for a surgery for work; followed by 7 hours standing in the operating room for the surgery; followed by a 4-hour drive home
Needless to say, I'm ready for the weekend!  Happy Friday, friends!  Hope you have a wonderful day!

PS: it's Saks Friends and Family time!!! Are you getting anything? When shopping online use code SFAFAM5 to get 25% off qualifiying purchases and use code SAKSSHIP9 for free shipping on any purchase.

Weekend Wear: Deja vu

Belt - Urban Outfitters
Necklace - Banana Republic
Flats - Elie Tahari
Purse - Chanel

Deju va with this outfit.  Down to the accessories!  But I can't help it - I love this dress and it has been one of my favorite Spring purchases so far.  It's still available online for $34.99 in case you're interested!!!  I also heard that it might be hem-able! =)

Thank you so much for your comments - especially for my dad's birthday on Monday, it was so sweet of you all! =)  Hope your week is going well!

Wishing...

...my dad a wonderful and happy BIRTHDAY

Photo by Blaine and Bethany Photography

I didn't get advanced permission to put a photo of him on my blog - so this will have to do for now!  Happy Birthday, Dad, I love you!

Weekend Wear: Ripped Skinny Jeans + Loose Satin Tank Top

Tank - Forever21, here
Blazer - 3.1 Phillip Lim
Necklaces - Banana Republic and Forever21
Jeans - Forever21
Shoes - Proenza Schouler
Purse - Chanel

The tank top was a mere $13.80 - a great buy in my opinion, and it's still available online!  The skinny jeans have zippers at the ankle and are ripped throughout the front part of the legs - I like that you can't always tell they're ripped.  Have I mentioned how much I love Forever21 skinny jeans?  Oh, right.  I did, right here.

Happy Monday!!

Something New

Shoes - Zara

I finally picked up summer heels!  I've only owned one other pair of Zara heels (when the US hadn't heard of Zara yet, on one of my trips to Paris as a teenager. I came back to the states with tons of Zara gear!).  I literally wore them to pieces.  This pebbled leather is soft and [hopefully] won't cut into my feet like those cute but insanely impractical and uncomfortable Forever21 heels I've been sporting.  Now if only it'll stop raining...

Happy Sunday, friends!

Coffee Break Craving: This Chambray Shirt + This Full Black Skirt

Tucked into:

D&G Full Skirt, from Farfetch.com, on sale for $145*

Belted with:

Plus 6" of added height in:

Proenza Schouler Heels

  • The chambray shirt is lovely, and I always adore my J.Crew shirts.  But I don't like to buy them full-price.  I'm waiting.

  • The full black skirt is by far the best looking full black skirt out there right now.  I was set to buy it and found out that shipping was going to cost $51 + whatever import duties/taxes the government will slap on there upon delivery. Really?!  FAIL.

  • And finally, I really shouldn't be craving anything right now - I picked up a few goodies at Zara and Forever21 this week.  Hubby has politely requested that this weekend's activities NOT include a shopping trip.  I really should oblige him....................but the Chanel Boutique called and my purse is finally ready for pick-up!  The chain had broken* and it has taken over 2 months for Chanel to fix/replace it.  Looks like we'll have to make a trip down there, sorry Hubby! =)
*Yep, the chain strap on one of my Chanel purses broke (partly my fault, wild dancing night!) - first time it's happened to me.  $60 and over 2 months later, I should have a new chain.  We'll see.
