Weekend Wear: Oversized Sweater

I'm battling a sinus infection, laryngitis and bronchitis so this weekend was mostly uneventful (a good thing).  I did manage to check out Union Square with Michele for a bit and we enjoyed an early dinner with my hubby at Lime in the Castro.  Restaurant service is always amazing when you are the first to dine at 5:30pm, hm

Today's outfit is oh so comfy and perfect for running Sunday errands (remember, these are the most comfortable boots, ever).  I'm trying to decide whether or not I'd be ok wearing this to the office for a casual Friday (oversized sweater, leggings, boots).  What are your thoughts?

Weekend Wear: The Shortest I'll Ever Go

Faux Leather Dress - H&M
Blazer - Rachel Rachel Roy
Tights - DKNY
Heels - Giuseppe Zanotti
Purse - Chanel

I've been waiting for a weekend opportunity to wear this dress I scored at H&M a long time ago (I think pre-New Year's, even?)...and I'm not getting any younger so why not just wear it now??  This is, by far, the shortest I will ever go in terms of hemline.  Add to that, the tightest I'll ever go in terms of faux leather.  Oh boy does that sound like a recipe for disaster!!!  =)

Hope you all have a great Friday!

Weekend Wear: Daydreaming

The rain is about to start again in SF, and right about now, I just wish I were on a tropical beach drinking a fruity cocktail in the sun.  Nevermind that I'm sick, coughing and hacking up stuff we never think could be in our bodies (sorry for the grossness).

Here's I would be wearing...(plus I'm so excited about my new dress from the MaxMara Outlet!)

Dress - MaxMara Outlet
Belt - Salvatore Ferragamo
Purse - Chanel
Shoes - Forever21
Hat - H&M Men's Section (I have a big head, apparently, and never fit into the women's hats...)

Is anyone going on vacation anytime soon, and can you pack me in your bags??? =)

Wearing Now: Striped Blazer

Striped Blazer - Zara
Navy Pencil Skirt - Moschino Cheap & Chic
Yellow Tank Top - Forever21
Belt - Urban Outfitters
Necklace - Banana Republic
Shoes - Christian Louboutin
Purse - Chanel

Happy Monday!!!

I don't really love the way this blazer pictured.  It looks much cuter in-person.  Regardless, I think I would recommend going with a stripe-y shirt rather than a stripe-y blazer, it's much much easier to coordinate with existing items in your closet.  Hope you're all having a great day!!!

Something New: Making up for Paris

One thing I didn't mention in my Paris updates from the other week: I came back to the States empty handed.

Not for lack of trying!

I had checked out my favorite department store, Le Bon Marche, with my aunt and cousin and spent my one free evening at Opera (where the massive Galeries Lafayette department store takes up several major blocks).  I found that prices in the US were still so much cheaper!  As much as I wanted to bring something Parisian home, I just didn't do it.  Except for the few extra pounds along my waistline from all of the delicious food I consumed, that surely counts!!! =)

Here's to making up for Paris (and Outlet Shopping in Orlando!).  And now I'm off to enjoy a glass of white wine!  Have a wonderful evening!

Hello and good morning!!  I've been in Orlando since Tuesday...so so so busy with a medical conference, exhibit hall, surgeon dinner events, case reviews, meetings, lab trainings, it's never-ending!  It's been a great meeting so far and it's always nice to see your colleagues and friends in the industry.

I packed this outfit in advance thinking, "it's Orlando, it has got to be nice and sunny!"  It turns out San Francisco is probably having warmer weather right now!  Needless to say, I've got a sweater and jacket...and I am wishing I had gone for the long pants instead!

And gosh, is it Friday already (where have the days gone??)?  I guess I need to say Happy Friday as well!!!

A 9to5 Staple: The Navy Pencil Skirt

Are you missing a simple navy pencil skirt in your closet?

As the weather warms up, I find myself reaching for my Moschino Cheap & Chic navy pencil skirt more often (year after year), so I assure you, it is a worthy workwear investment!  Here are a few versions that might interest you:

Weekend Wear: Red Leopard

Happy Vietnamese New Year & Happy Valentine's Day!

Went out in the Mission last night for the first time in a while.  You know you had a good time when you end up at a pizza-by-the-slice joint at 1:00am (or was that 1:30am??).  Sometimes it's fun to see if you can still hang with the 2am crowd!

Happy Long Weekend (& Valentine's Day!)

It's both Vietnamese (& Chinese) New Year and Valentine's Day this weekend - can't wait to see my family and enjoy a romantic dinner with my hubby!  Hope you have a lovely weekend!

My Valentine's Day get-up (I'm actually going to wear red this year?)  Except we're celebrating on Saturday, so I think it doesn't count!

What are you wearing?

Afternoon Cravings: Seeing Stripes

My deal-hunting ways have kept me away from all of the new Spring arrivals in stores and intent on shopping the sales racks... (you know, winter lasts a looonnngg time in San Francisco!!!)

But last weekend I finally picked up a fun new Spring piece!  (I also picked up a nautical striped t-shirt recently, after seeing the Rodarte for Target version on lovely Andi from Saltwater Dreams.  I could never find the Rodarte for Target shirt in store so I settled for an Urban Outfitters version.)

I'll share with you the blazer I picked up in an upcoming Wearing Now post, but here are some similar items:

Have you picked up any stripes lately?

Weekend Wear: Back to Black

Black and Gray Print Silk Dress - Nieves Lavi from Fred Segal Santa Monica
Black Jacket - Arden B.
Chain Necklace - Forever21
Tights - Danskin Microfiber
Booties - Giuseppe Zanotti
Lace and Leather Gloves - Club Monaco
Purse - Chanel

This dress is so so so old, but I'm glad I've kept it in my closet over the years.  It's been worn a number of ways - belted, layered, casual with flip flops, dressy with heels... it works and above all, it's super comfortable!

Hope you all have a great Thursday - the weekend is almost here!!

Paris: Days Five & Six

A final post for my Paris trip!

I spent my final evening alone, visiting an area I know would be crowded and safe, Opera.

French flower delivery from my cousin, who owns a flower shop near the office.  Orchids are my favorite!  Such a lovely surprise!

You know it's truly a business trip when the best sightseeing you get to do is from the window of a taxi cab... The pictures were all blurry like above (that's the glittering Eiffel Tower, by the way)!

Scallops from a lovely dinner with my aunt and two cousins (I tried ostrich meat too!)

Til' next time, Paris!

Wearing Now: Enjoying the Bit of Sun

Good morning and good afternoon friends!  (Better late than never, I figure!)

I'm back in SF and happy to report that the weather has been splendid!  Lots of sun and actual *warmth* (when you're directly in the sun).

Today I threw on a look that works like a uniform (tucked-in blouse, high-waisted skirt, nice tailored blazer).  I suppose I'm about six days early for Valentine's Day, with all of the pink I have going on... a nice change from the gloomy blacks I usually turn to!

Have you been feeling like you've been wearing too much black?  Do you feel brighter when you're wearing brighter clothes?

Gray Blazer - Max Azria Runway
Ruffle Top - H&M (really old)
Soft Pink Silk Skirt - Jean Paul Gaultier
Nude Heels - Christian Louboutin

Wearing Now: Finally in Flats

Another outfit planned in advance for my business trip!

I love that flats take up absolutely no room in my suitcase (especially these satin flats, which just flatten to nil).  Plus for a walking city like Paris, they're essential.

Silk Ruffle Blouse with Necktie - Juicy Couture
Soft Jersey Blazer - Zara
Jersey Wide-Leg Slacks - Club Monaco
Headband - Burberry
Belt - Salvatore Ferragamo
Purse - Gucci
Satin Ballet Flats - Gap ($20!)

And for a quick little Paris update:  I had dinner with a few cousins and their friends/girlfriends last night at Robert et Louise in the 3rd arrondisement.  What a lovely area!  Narrow cobblestone streets gracefully lined with boutiques, cafes and romantic streetlamps.  This is Paris!

I'll leave you with another Paris snapshot:

Escargot, delicious!
