When I learned of [yet another] price increase looming at Chanel, I knew that my long-term notion of buying a final Chanel bag had just been accelerated. I had been dreaming of a black Caviar Jumbo Classic bag but it all changed when I walked into the SF Chanel boutique (and ran into an old high school friend, David!) and set my eyes on this beauty.
Several weeks and many anxiety-filled changes of heart later (have to thank my hubby and David at Chanel for dealing with my pitiful indecisive behavior), I finally brought the new Chanel purse home. All things pointed to wrong:
- It's not black
- It's not caviar
- It's not a classic jumbo
It doesn't mean that I still don't dream of that classic black jumbo, but this one's unique and it's mine. So there you have it, my something new, the very last one for years and years to come. Have you ever had your heart set on one thing but came home with something else?

ReplyDeleteGorgeous reissue! I have always wanted a reissue because I love how understated it looks while exuding elegance. I wish I had taken the plunge before the price increase but my perfect red has yet to be found.

ReplyDeleteDies...you can get your classic black jumbo anytime down the road. It won't be nearly as hard as finding a unique beauty like this one! I haven't found mine yet and with the latest price hike, it's now just about out of my reach : (

ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!!! I tried to justify a purchase before the price increase as well, but didn't make it to a Chanel boutique. I've often times gone to Banana or Bloomingdales to pick up 1 dress shirt for my husband (last minute needs) and ended up coming home with stuff for myself as well :)

This is why I've figured it's pretty much my last Chanel, the prices are downright outrageous compared to 4 or 5 years ago!
Absolutely stunning. I am trying to save up just for a wallet. It's a beautiful color. When the sales associate told my friend that the price was going to go up that made her buying decision that much easier. I swear I don't know the last time I was so giddy in a high end boutique. Yes, Chanel on Maiden Lane knows how to perk up a girl's mood!

Wrong never looked so right, indeed! When this baby popped up in my Google reader, I nearly had a heart attack. That color is amazing (and versatile!) and lambskin is so delicious. Lucky girl!

This purse is beautiful!!! I actually went through the exact same dilemma... I hunted all over NYC for the beige M/L flap with gold but went into the SoHo store and fell in LOVE with an Ecru colored M/L flap that they just got in for Fall with silver hardware =P So not as drastic of a difference, but still not the one I originally wanted!

Ahhhh I love it!! I had the same consternation when I bought my first Chanel. Although it was a classic jumbo flap - it was Lambskin AND navy / indigo. All the things we're told not buy. But....I love it and you will love youra too! I love the color and the reissue to die for.
