Wearing Now: Black and Red

Remember the fun print from the lining of my Rachel Rachel Roy blazer here?  Yep, I went ahead and ordered the sheer tank with the same print!  And it is fun, indeed.  It looks like a cute normal tank from the front and lets you walk away with just a little bit of a surprise!  Hint: I love ruffles!

For the frequent travelers, this top passes in packability - the chiffon does not wrinkle!

Weekend Wear: Mad about Plaid

(Apologies in advance if you're still at work today, and excuse me while I dance in a circle for a second...)

Happy 5-day weekend for meeeee!

Today's a casual day and a travel day too.  I've been enjoying the flannel plaids that have popped into the stores this fall/winter, and definitely don't mind the extra warmth they provide (especially in-flight).  And since I'm flying to the hubby's family in Portland, I'm rocking my much needed rain boots too.

Casual...Tuesday?

Today's my Friday and I'm sure many of you are in the same boat, or at least close enough (hang in there!).  Thank goodness, because Thanksgiving is upon us!

My key piece today is a vintage purple print tank.

Flat Brown Boots: Found!

I've been on a hunt, friends.

For flat, sleek, skinny-calved, extra tall brown leather boots.  I looked on the internet (saks, neimans, barneys, nordstroms, macys, bloomies, piperlime, shopbop...oh the list goes on and I would bore you by continuing).  I looked in the stores.  I found a few I liked, but it was just never totally right.  Here are the problems I encountered:
  • Too big in the calf.  Not good.  Unless you're Giselle Bundchen and they are Chloe boots that stand up by themselves and look awesome just because.  I like my boots snug in the calf for a slim look.
  • Too bulky in the foot.  Again, Not good.  I don't want my feet to look like a size 13.  Men's.  I'm going for a sleek feminine look in the toes.
  • Too short.  I don't like mid-calf/mid-shin or "not quite to the bottom of my knee cap" boots.  I like them tall and lean to the knee, and I think it's universally more flattering.
  • Not leather.  So many great suede choices out there, but in SF where I expect to be rained on for the next several months, suede is just not a good option.
  • Too cheap/Too expensive.  I've found that my trendy less-than-$100 shoes have never lasted more than a season.  And there are a million other things I'd rather spend $1000+ on right now.  How about something in the $200-$300 range, please?
So, you're probably thinking, get on with it and share the *^#@ boots!

Well, it's on it's way from New York and I'll share pictures as soon as it arrives!  Stay tuned!

Monday's Focus: Cardigans

I visited My Mother's Closet on Friday evening and lo and behold, a sea of cardigans and sweaters (ooh the cashmere, the merino, the colors!!!). It was The Ocean of cardigans, and I'm not talking the ocean you see when you make yourself a bath. I'm talking Pacific Ocean. Atlantic Ocean. Arctic Ocean.  And now, my friends, I know where I got my cardigan craze. Among other things.

If you're just as crazy as I am about cardigans, these babies are vying for a spot in your closet, any takers?

Oscar de la Renta from The Outnet, on sale for $995...ouch.

3.1 Phillip Lim, from Net-A-Porter.  Love the plaid print in sweater form! $375

JCrew. This shade of golden mustard is the perfect pop of color! $89.95

Banana Republic.  Just a little something to spruce up a simple black cardigan. $79.50

Old Navy.  Budget-friendly with tasteful satin trim. Add a skinny belt and you'll look like you're wearing much more than $29!

Casual Fridays: Not Your Average Blazer

I recently picked up a fun, fun, fun tweed blazer from Rachel by Rachel Roy.  Normally, it takes me about 25 seconds to rip the tags off and jump into whatever new purchase I've made.  If that.

But not this baby.  I didn't know what to do with her, but I knew I loved her.  Finally, here she is on this Happy Casual Friday for my half day at work.  (You see, sometimes it's ok to work a 64-hour workweek... because your boss recognizes it and rewards you with a free half day!)

And yes - the jacket feels great too!  It's comfy, perfect across the shoulders, and the lining is silky smooth.  I got it in a size 2 - so for the petite ladies out there (I'm 5'8"), you're going to love how the size 0 fits.  It's really narrow in the shoulders and perfectly cut.

Happy Friday readers!

Don't you just love the lining??

Thursday: Belt it Out

My actual outfit of the day.  It's nothing special, but I thought I'd point out this awesome MiuMiu belt I scored at a Saks Fifth Outlet store about...4 years ago?  It's been well-loved since the purchase.  Lovely heavy leather, brass finishings and a girly threaded detail throughout.  Don't you just love the special pieces that last you forever?

Techy Talk: My Workday Goods

There are a few pertinent tools that we all need in order to be the ultimate machines for today's corporate world.  You know the keywords: efficient, productive, connected

Here's my stash of techy goodness (and the reason why my puppies feel neglected every so often) (not to mention my dear hubby, ok ok, I promise I will get off my iPhone right now!):

The iPhone 3GS, of course.  And what about the Apps?  Well, I'm going to need to dedicate a post entirely to that subject.

Dell Latitude Ultra Portable - but!  This is just a similar version.  Mine is a mere 2lbs with a 12" screen, making my puddle jumps to Paris (Pareeeeeeee!) that much less weighted. Hear that?  More room for shoes...boots...jackets...tops....tights...ohmy the list can go on!!!

It doesn't hurt that I have a sweeeet set-up at my office complete with docking station and a 32" monitor.  So 12" screen is not hurting my eye sight.

Jawbone Bluetooth Headset - Gov. Schwarzenegger, I swear I do not use my phone without this excellent headset!  Your wife, on the other hand...

What are your top three go-to techy items?  Please share!

Wednesday Happy Hour: I'll Take a Clear Vodka Martini with That Please!

It's Wednesday, and there's only one thought on my mind: I'm halfway through the week!  No better way to celebrate than with a Wednesday social cocktail.  Here are a few clear lovelies that will take you flawlessly from 9 to 6+:

How about that $10.90 steal of a necklace?  Cheers to that!

Wearing Now: Easy Peasy

There are three things you can't go wrong with - a hot steaming Starbucks coffee after limited shut-eye, deliciously loving puppy kisses, and the ever classic high waisted pencil skirt.

The look is simple: a tucked in silk ruffle blouse and a belt to top it off.  Add some sophisticated pumps and you're out the door!  This is my ultimate go-to protocol and it will never disappoint.   Bonus, readers.  The aforementioned puppy makes an appearance, below ;)
